Green Festival & Outdoor Dining

It’s Wednesday, time to think about the weekend, right? This weekend, Chicago is hosting the Green Festival at Navy Pier. This festival is spreading the green word across the country and back again (not sure if that’s good for their carbon footprint but that’s not my call). They have already been in Seattle and Denver and after Chicago, they head to Washington, DC and San Francisco. Some very impressive speakers will speak at the Chicago Green Festival (and, again, it looks to be the same format across the country) including Alice Waters. For those who don’t know, Alice Waters is credited with popularizing the whole organic, green, local eating. Whether she really did or not is a heavy debate in culinary circles but I know that for me, Alice is where I heard it first. If you can make it, she’s speaking on Saturday at 4PM.

The Green Festival offers a number of other speakers (I’m curious about “The Divine Chocolate Challenge”), vendors, kids activities and more. Tickets are $15 which gets you, well, everything. If you take CTA or have a student ID, then tickets are $10 and it’s free for those under 18. For a complete list of speakers, please click here. For the press release about the event, click here.

Don’t forget, I need to hear from YOU! Tell me your favorite outdoor dining spots. It doesn’t matter what city you’re in – just send me your top three outdoor spots in your city! Please email or post them in the comments section by Friday.

Also, please forward Bright-Yellow to your friends and family. I’m working on the whole subscription issue. You can also follow me on Twitter – jenhp.
