Pretend It’s Summer (or You’re in Kauai) with a Mai Tai

Mai TaiHey, look, it’s a blog post! For those of you who may not know, Jeff & I headed to Hawaii for our anniversary.  The visit was my first to Hawaii and Jeff’s sixth (?) and fourth to Kauai.  We like cocktails, and apparently you do, too, since according to wordpress, the most popular search tag for this blog is “booze”.  We agreed that our favorite cocktail in Hawaii was the Mai Tai at Keoki’s Paradise (the folks at Paved with Good Intentions agree and I hope that they don’t mind that I used their photo) – we think its deliciousness comes from pineapple juice.  So, in the spirit of enjoying  a cocktail to make all of us think of warm weather and tropical breezes, here’s a Mai Tai recipe from Hawaii for Visitors – enjoy!

Pineapple Mai Tai Ingredients:

  • 4 ounce orange juice
  • 4 ounce pineapple juice
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce dark rum
  • 1 ounce light rum
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine

    Pineapple Mai Tai Instructions:
Mix all ingredients, shake with ice, and strain into a glass. Garnish with a cherry and a pineapple wedge.
